Thank You for a Great Family Day Weekend!

WWl snowflake.

The 9th Annual Clarington Winter WonderLearn on February 20th was a great success!

Hundreds of families visited the festival sites at the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex and the Newcastle Branch of the Clarington Public Library to get active, learn something new, and spend time together as a family!  Heavy snow only added to the spirit and enthusiasm of this family learning festival!

Check out Clarington Public Library on Flickr to see photos of the fun and learning happening during the event!

Thank you to the organizations and visitors that contributed to the success of this event, and we hope to see you all for the 10th Annual Clarington Winter WonderLearn in 2013!

Two Weeks To Go!

WWl snowflake.

It won’t be long now before the Family Day weekend, and Winter WonderLearn!

There will be a great line up of organizations at both venues, featuring demonstrations and workshops in literacy, arts, sports, history, science, nature, safety, and health.

Throughout the event, families can explore interactive activities, make a craft or two, and drop in to one of the all-day workshops.  The festival allows people to learn about the local organizations that make up our community, and to get active, learn something new, and spend time together as a family!

This year, there will be more all-day workshops than ever!  Drop in and stay for a while, no registration required!

Winter WonderLearn 2012: Better than Ever!

WWl snowflake.

Clarington Winter WonderLearn continues to grow, and this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever!

One big change is the shuttle bus service.  The shuttle bus will operate between the two venues, the Newcastle Branch of the Clarington Public Library and the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex.  Park your car once, and visit the entire festival!  Move your body, exercise your mind, shake off the winter blahs with organizations at both venues.

Had to cut your visit short last year so you could grab lunch?  No problem this year!  In response to visitor feedback, this year the concession stand at the Complex will be open.  Take a break from workshops, activities, and crafts, then drive right back in!

Also be sure to bring your swimsuit!  Once again the Municipality will be offering a free family swim directly following the festival.  From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., get active with your family in the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex pool!

The 9th Annual Winter WonderLearn

WWl snowflake.

Planning for the 9th Annual Winter WonderLearn has already begun!

The festival will be held on the Saturday of the Family Day weekend, February 18th, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Once again, it will be spread over two fantastic venues: Clarington Public Library, Newcastle Branch, and the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex.

Winter WonderLearn is a day of free family fun! Children and their caregivers can move their bodies and exercise their minds by participating in an event that celebrates Clarington and the family learning opportunities that thrive here. Shake off the winter blahs at this interactive learning festival. Local organizations offer demonstrations and workshops in literacy, arts, sports, science, and nature. Get active, learn something new, and spend time together as a family!
